50 first...what?

Like the five basic senses, fear is our basic reaction to the unknown. Fear is why I probably write this blog (notes to self, if you please). But what do I fear?

It's laughable as the emotional state it generates, but I fear forgetting. Forgetting is natural. Do you remember the first time your folks picked you up? It must have been quite an experience. Yet its forgotten. Photographs and videos help, but if only they could capture the emotional state you were in. Emotion is an important part of the physical realm.

To loose childhood memories is normal. But to flash your memory banks, after building 20 plus years of memories, isn't pleasant. When you have to rely on your "instincts" to make out your family and friends, you never want to forget again. Ever. No word in the English dictionary can explain that unpleasant feeling.

So, what if I were to forget all over again? Much like Drew Barrymore's character in "50 first dates". The movie is billed as a romantic comedy but to live it would be nothing less than a nightmare.

Unless you are in the present.

The now has no memories. Its attention span is so focussed, that it really can't afford to look into the future. It just is. So should you be.
